Burgzooka: Santacruz’s Newest, And Only Burger Joint

As a paranoid human being, I would generally never entrust the security of my gastrointestinal tract with an organisation that calls itself Burgzooka. That sounds like something an eight year old with ADD would come up with. Don’t get me wrong it’s a badass name and you need serious guts to name your whole business after it, it’s just a slightly odd, I respect them, but it’s still a little odd. But for what they lack in hospitality nomenclature they more than make up for in their skill with a grill.

Burgzooka is the latest edition to Santacruz West’s five restaurants; a list that only gets updated once every twenty years, and while it’s still very much in the process of working out its logistics, it does look promising. I think it could be Santacruz’s Yorrick’s; And much like Yorrick’s, Burgzooka is a restaurant that only does home deliveries, which is just as well because let’s not forget, it’s still in Santacruz. It’s nice to know that the suburb I was raised in finally has its own burger joint, I mean Malad and Borivali did get them before we did, but at least we don’t have to put up with leopards and D-Mart.

Some people know Santacruz for its schools and bridal wear shops, although most people don’t know it at all. Maybe Burgzooka can change all of that, I certainly hope so. Now, let’s talk about the food; we called for two burgers, the Classic Chicken because we’re Classic Men, and the Badass Buff because we liked the name.

Badass Buff

Price: Rs.290

The Badass Buff came loaded with jalapeños arranged by what looked like a person with OCD. It was good solid burger, but wasn’t nearly as big or juicy as the ones you get at Yorrick’s i.e. the Buffalo Bill. Even though it had jalapeños it wasn’t as spicy as I hoped it would be, and that was a bit of a disappointment. I mean I enjoyed every bit of it, especially the cheese and the fact that I could eat it without wearing a bib, but it just didn’t blow my mind. You should try it out for yourself, though I honestly can’t say I’d recommend it.

Classic Chicken

Price: Rs.270

I maintain that chicken is a disgusting trash bird, but that being said, the Burgzooka classic chicken is one of the most delicious burgers I’ve ever had. The badass buff had its flaws, but I can’t think of anything I didn’t like about the classic chicken, it genuinely was an amazing burger; I’d even go so far as to say that it’s a lot better than Yorrick’s Classic Chicken and that thing has frickin bacon in it. If you live in Santacruz I couldn’t recommend this burger more, if you don’t live in Santacruz, congratulations, but you should still try this burger.
