Ever Wanted To Be In A Rap Video?

If you grew up in the 90s and remember them fondly because of your ADHD medication, you’d probably agree that being in a rap video is just about the coolest thing in the world apart from Shakalaka Boom Boom pencils and up-and-coming Bollywood superstar Saif Ali Khan. And while the latter two didn’t age very well, being in a rap video is still pretty badass.

Obviously American rap today isn’t quite the same as the rap we all grew up with; for God’s sake Snoop Dogg runs an ecommerce company, Eminem’s gone completely off the grid and Ice Cube starred in a movie did this. It isn’t about the streets and mother issues anymore; it’s about money, hos and getting into Twitter spats with Taylor Swift.

But Indian rap still hasn’t been tainted by all that garbage, it even managed to survive being associated with Honey Singh, and if growing up on the streets of Santa Cruz West taught me anything, it’s that being in an underground rap video is possibly the coolest thing I’ll ever do. And the 26th of September may be the only chance.

The rap group Mumbai’s Finest is shooting a video for their latest single Bappa Morya and everyone’s invited to join in. Check out the description on the video on Youtube for all the info. I don’t normally promote hoodlums on the page but these guys are seriously legit; don’t let their hoodies, bandannas and the fact that they’re from Kurla fool you, their music is what rap’s supposed to be.

So if you’d like to seize what may be your only chance to increase your street cred exponentially, all you have to do is show up.

Venue: Vakolacha Raja Visarjan,

Vakola, Santa Cruz East.

Date: 26th September 2016.
