Social media blew up last month over what was pretty much a Shraddha Kapoor charity event featuring Coldplay. So you’d imagine people would totally lose their shit when they found out that Shaggy, the reggae icon of the 90s was coming to town on 21st October. You’d be wrong. Apparently four whiny British dudes are what people consider cool these days.
Shaggy, much like the Venga Boys before him is someone who defined the music industry in 90s, faded into obscurity in the 2000s and ended up playing at a mall in Kurla in the 2010s. Which is absolutely heartbreaking, but at least it means we get to finally see him in person. For those of you aren’t too familiar with his work because you had terrible childhoods, Shaggy’s discography includes Mr. Boombastic, It Wasn’t Me, Angel and my personal favourite, In The Summertime.
Shaggy will be performing at Phoenix Market City, Kurla on the 21st of October as part of his three city India tour. Prices start at Rs.1000 for regular tickets and go all the way to Rs.2000 for VIP tickets which is so reasonable it makes you wonder what the catch is. Then you realise the catch is it’s in Kurla. Still, it’s a once in a lifetime chance to see an absolute legend perform in person at the same place you can rent out dirty Segways for two hundred bucks.
If you’d like to book tickets, you can do so here.
